That's the way, Mahi Ve!

Yes.
(*giggle*)

So it was the (*giggle*) Dhoni (*giggle*) show.

Take that all you jealous (*cough*) people who hate him.
OK sorry that was mean. I shouldn't have called you jealous. (*snort*)
You are just ugly.
Ok sorry, sorry.

Anyway.

Did you see him running between the wickets and rotating strike??
(Did you not hear him go bhaag-bhaag/run-run after each hit.)
THAT IS NOT BEING LUCKY!
That is called .. umm .. er running between the wickets and rotating strike.
Haan.

And those powerful "short-arm jabs"??
THAT IS NOT BEING LUCKY!
That is called .. umm .. er playing short-arm jabs.
Haan.

And hitting those fabulous fours and sixes??
THAT IS NOT BEING LUCKY!
That is called .. umm .. er hitting those fabulous fours and sixes.
Haan.

Did you see him hit that 50??
THAT IS NOT BEING LUCKY!
That is called .. umm .. er hitting a 50.

And did you pay attention at the presentation ceremony? How well he summed up everything.
So honest. That is called beauty with brains. TAKE THAT!

Sure sure Jakati got four wickets, Haydos set it up, Raina was good, Albie got a wicket first ball-was superb, and I am beginning to like Tyagi...a lot, but

DHONI SET UP THE GAME.
THAT IS NOT BEING LUCKY!
That is called .. umm .. er Dhoni setting up the game.
Haan.

So don't you dare criticize him; call him lucky and trivialize all his hard work.
Grrr...

Have a nice day. :-)

27 Maidens bowled!!:

people saying him lucky aint the knowledge holders of the game. luck doesnt hold good for 5 yrs. does it? never it did for me. :)

MS had to come good this game and he did it in style. got runs, got his bowling changes going and moreso he got the CSK to the top.

such is the closeness in IPL this time!!

Leela said...

Sam,

Exactly. How can people be "lucky" for so long? The fact that he makes everything look so effortless means he uses his brain well.

I am loving the crowded IPL table this time. This is going to be a fight to the finish.
Yay!

hey,

I love ur blog... n im a huge fan of msd too. I guess the difference between him and the rest is that he makes the most of every opportunity presented to him and makes it count. This was a great return to form :)

Leela said...

Hi Divya,

Thanks for the compliment!
:-)
Yup he does make "the most of every opportunity presented to him and makes it count."
I hate when people call it luck.

Welcome to the blog btw.

congratulations leela,

that was the first thing i wanted to do after watching yesterday's match, and now that i have done it, i don't know what more to say!

except may be, i want to see mumbai winning again!!

Leela said...

Ankit,

Lol. Thanks.
Sure I too wanna see MI win.
Will remember to congratulate you.

I hope Dhoni's "luck" will hold for the next ten years at least. ;-)
On a different note, if prayers are really effective, then MSD is lucky to have fans like Leela. :-)
Of course MSD is not really a divisive personality like Dada, the prayers of whose fans is offset by the curses of his detractors. :-b

Amy said...

What are you talking about? He was just lucky :P

raj said...

Leela, sure. I am not complaining :-)
But suppose Saurav Ganguly captains an Indian team, promotes Yuvraj for a couple of matches, and Yuvraj does well in the top-order, and Saurav fails in the bottom order. Then he promotes himself to #3 in the third match, and comes good. Wouldnt you all be going "Dada is selfish?". Well, maybe not you but a huge part of India did say that. By that token, Badri does well in the top order for 2 matches. Then Dhoni promotes himself for the third match. So wheres that chorus?
I am not saying Dhoni is selfish because I defended Ganguly then. But those who called Ganguly selfish must call Dhoni selfish now because otherwise, they will be exposing their *hypocrisy*

Q said...

Sam, u reckon ur a knowledge holder?

Q said...

Leela: Haan haan haan! :-)

Leela said...

Adverbin,

Oh Dada might have detractors but the entire city of Kolkata marches to his tune.

No, we as Indians are lucky to have the right captain at the right time.
:-)

Leela said...

Amy,

Sure. Sure.
:-)

Leela said...

Raj,

I've never complained about Dada; he has flaws.. I mean we all know he has, but he did a lot of good for Indian cricket.

Anyway, the Badri issue is diff. Badri has been given chances in ODIs and he has failed.
And to be fair to MSD, he does change the batting order quite a bit - except that the opening combo remains the same.
Look at the past series, we always have changes at position # 3. So I wouldn't read too much into it.

Leela said...

Q,

I knew you would agree!

hey maiden, howdy...

the paddlesweep guys....

Leela said...

Ankit,

Welcome to the blog.

Sure will blogroll you.

Have a nice day Leela:)
Hope you get more so nice days, even though I'm not sure if MSD can do it often:)
Luck or no luck, he simply looks less involved in IPL and even jaded. And alas! He's not the same batsman we knew.
IPL II would be the first tournament when MSD will not win a single new fan. And he would do well to retain the base he had before it.

Leela said...

Som,

I guess we see this differently.

:-)

raj said...

Leela, I have no issues with MSD tinkering his order. I am just saying that for dada detractors to ignore this is hypocrisy. I didnt call Dada selfish then for the same thing - I am not going to call MSD selfish now. What I am saying is those who used this axe against Sourav, and do not have issues with MSD doing it are hypocrites

Maithreyi said...

Yes, yes, yes to it all! Especially to the "beauty with brains" one. Mmm... beauty. What beauty!

... Ahem.

Figures he'd play this innings exactly in the one CSK match I wasn't able to follow because the 'net was down 'round here.

I also love that he put his batting in the spotlight, and actually called it "pathetic". If I had been feeling a little disgruntled with him all tournament (there's only so much defending I can do) this comment erased all discontent, even more so than his match-winning innings. Beauty, yes. Brains, yes. Balls? Definitely!

Also, yes. I'm loving the look of this Sudeep Tyagi dude. What a difference he makes at the top!

Leela said...

Raj,

I see what you are saying. So you don't have an issue with MSD, but your prob are the hypocrites, right? Mine too.
:-)

Leela said...

Maithreyi,

Exactly! If he was disintrested, he would have never called himself "pathetic"- that takes guts.
And at every presentation ceremony he has fessed up to his team's inadequacies. If he was not intrested, why would he have done that??

raj said...

I have to say that 'pathetic' comment won me over. Guts and Balls. If Sachin had the same guts, he will tell Harbhajan to f**k off, and play Chetanya Nanda. I guess SRT doesnt have the guts to say that even in private to the grossly under-performing Sardar.

Leela said...

Raj,

Sometimes people say Tendulkar has his way at all times. And now you say he lacks guts.
Who knows what the team is discussing.
:-)

raj said...

Leela, frustration speaking there. I hate the mediocre, under-performing, 1-in-5 series wonder Harbhajan. Not to mention the foul mouth and unproven-though-not-implausible racist comments.

Leela said...

Raj,

Harbie has been underperforming in IPL2, I agree there.
