KP + PAK fielding v. Pakistan

I hope the title says it all. It should.
Pakistan's fielding was such a comedy of errors. Except if you are a Pak fan; then it ain't too funny.
And the way they folded up. Abysmal.
And is Afridi still considered a batsman? If yes, why?
For someone who grew up in the 80s/90s watching India getting ritually clobbered by Pak, I wonder kahan gaye woh log? ("Where are those people now?")

Meanwhile,

Ah KP.
I like him. (Despite that weird smile that he wears.) I do.
You know people call him arrogant and self-absorbed, perhaps he is.
The thing is he is pretty friendly too. Always encouraging his fellow Englishmen.
Plus I have never seen him use foul language while sledging. He doesn't need to. The bat will do all the talking.
I think I even saw him exchanging pleasantries with Pak fielders - no wonder they obliged him with all those dropped catches and miss-fields.

P.S. Again a disagreement on the MOtM; why Luke Wright? Why not KP?

10 Maidens bowled!!:

Younis Khan reportedly said that since T20 is more entertainment than cricket, a los should not be too upsetting. Is he Pakistani or Englishstani?

Actually I agree with the MOM.....

But bad fielding is in the blood if you are from the sub continent i guess. But india and srilanks are becoming better, only Pak and this is probanly due to their inability to play many matches.

i used to admire KP as a person who takes everything from the oppositions....(Aussies and the proteas)....If you read his auto biography "Crossing the Boundary" - you'll really admire him, but at the same time he is a Arrogant and all.
But still I admire him as I do not know anyone who can switch hit so many balls for sixes.....

And as Adverbin says is Yunis a Pak or Englishman?

Pakistan's display was absymal to say the least.

They didn't bowl well, didn't field, didn't take catches, didn't run between the wickets, didn't hit out.

They might as well not have turned out to play.

adverbin,

Last year the Aussies said the same thing. I think when teams start losing T20, they tend to trivialize the format.

CPD,
I wouldn't say that its in the "blood" of the sub-continentals.
I think in the past Indians did not field well because the out-fields were not of int'l quality at the local levels, obviously players did not wanna risk injury.
Now u see a change.

I think in the case of the Pakistanis its a mind thing; they just don't look ready.

Pietersen is regularly called arrogant and cocky and self-absorbed; yet his batting is about the only thing that makes him look so. In five years, he has not attached himself to a single controversy on the field or off, he regularly makes runs, and he lifts the English team from a mere bunch of also-rans to a status of serious title contenders.

And in return for all of that, he gets called arrogant and self-absorbed, whereas Flintoff gets worshipped as a secular saint in spite of his numerous indiscretions. It's such a shame, really.

Australia lost! :-)

Sharath,

Yay! A Pietersen supporter!

I totally agree with what you are saying. He has his loyalty questioned ALL the time. And this when he carries that team on his back.
Yup, Australia lost. Just posted something.
