There is something about Rohit Sharma. Something about that lazy elegance that is so reminiscent of players of Hyderabadi origin.
(I know, I know he is a Mumbaikar, but he plays for DC and his roots are in AP.)
He is not as wristy as the original Nawab aka Azhar. Nor can he be compared to VVS yet.
However, the enthusiasm with which people talk about him, you feel he is in it for the long haul.
(I hope.)
And its not just us desis, its everyone who watches him. For instance, Gilly was so enthusiastic about "Ro". And so was Boof in the IPL. So was Roy. So was Gibbs.
A star in the making? Perhaps.
(I hope.)
So India walk to a win. Easy does it.

6 Maidens bowled!!:
It really was a treat to watch him today Leela.
Bowling at the death overs is still something to be concerned about but all in all a good win today. Yayy!
I think he was a star in the making from the moment he made his debut for India - in the last T20 world cup.. still remember that 50 against SA.. he has it in him to play for a decade and a half for India.. will come into the test team soon before the others to replace whoever goes first from Dravid, Laxman, and Sachin...
Megha,
I saw the 2nd half and was pleasantly surprised by the cakewalk.
Will hit replay later.
Yeah this death bowling thing is becoming an issue indeed. Hope they fix it before the real matches start.
Q,
Yeah he does look like a star. However, he often sleepwalks thru some of the matches. Which is a concern. But if I look at the current crop of players, Raina and he stand out.
I agree with Megha....
Rohit was more than a treat to watch and it was well worth staying up to watch.
His sheer lazy elegance does remind you of Laxman but his running between the wickets in so much better.
CPD,
True. And his fielding is better than Laxman's too.
