Brickbats....

So I found the following on Youtube:

And

Sigh.

17 Maidens bowled!!:

Tough times for Dhoni fans indeed, more so because they had not experienced something similar in the past. The first video was interesting, almost a suspense thriller. Did the voiceover say "Ek Daur Tha Jab Dhoni Ke Andar KARISHMA tha"?

Captain Karishmatic!

Ah yes...those post-game pundits are at it again. No one personifies the "what have you done for me lately" attitude than these TRP-chasing "reporters".

Just curious...watch the first three balls bowled by Ishant a little more closely. If either of the 2nd or 3rd balls had gone to hand, the same clowns would have lauded that as a fantastic move, no doubt.

How can you even troll youtube for such tripe? You must have the patience of Job, I swear!

Leela, its bad enough that you worship the ground that Dhoni walks on, but to put up rotten videos of Indian news channels in favor of him is taking it a bit too far, don't you think? HE LOST THE CHAMPIONS TROPHY, I DON'T CARE IF HE HAS AN EXCELLENT RECORD AS CAPTAIN, I DON'T CARE IF HE IS PICKED AS GLOBAL CAPTAIN OF THE ICC, HE MUST BE DROPPED.

sorry for the caps, but i refuse for my voice to be silenced by your alleged propaganda videos. ;)

Som,

suspense thriller
Exactly what I thought.. with that whole dhan te nan music effect!
:-)

JQ,

Will check out what you noted.

I just troll for serious cricket videos (I swear!) and I find this tripe.
;-)

:D
OK cheap trick, I agree, but I swear I am sick of Dhoni haters.

And stop shouting, you're hurting everyone's ears.
:-)
propaganda videos
Lol.

ROTFL. You've got to be kidding me ! Having left India close to a decade ago, I'm thanking my stars that I'm not exposed to this.

For starters, the music theme - if you just hear it without the pictures, you would think something catastrophic is occurring.

Then the bloke who is talking - wonder if he ever has to live under the expectations he rattles throughout the clip.

What a load of BS.

Say Leela, I'm amazed you put these up in your blog. Having a wicked sense of humour are you ? :)

By the way, on a tangential note - look what New Zealand has - a fast bowler who even after reaching his 30's is still bowling as fast and menacingly as he used to in spite of all the stress fractures and back injuries and IPL-mandated suspensions he has faced.

I thought it was the biggest slap on the bowler's face when Dhoni bowled those two overs and within 2 balls had sussed out the right length and angle to bowl at. After the first two balls that were shorter and got thumped for four, Dhoni finished with 6 runs in the remaining 10 balls with a wicket.

And Leela, I believe you when you say you are trolling for serious cricket videos but using the search words: "I heart Dhoni" may not be the best choice. :-)

He has to grow his Hair back... The magic will come back. Like all rock stars, you ain't rocking without hair.

Leela said...

TG,

Is this the first time you are watching a Desi video in a long time?
That would explain the embarrassment (stage 1).
:-)

Not wicked sense of humor, just that desperate times call for desperate measures.
;-)
All this anti-Dhoni talk got to me.

wonder if he ever has to live under the expectations he rattles throughout the clip.

See, the exact (!) reaction I was aiming for.

Leela said...

JQ,

Yeah, for all who said he did not manage his bowlers well, what did they expect?? Him to start bowling?
Well wait he did that, and like you said "within 2 balls had sussed out the right length and angle to bowl at."

Hey how did you know what I type in the search string?? Wait you did say, google tracks all our moves.
;-)

Leela said...

Scorpi,

I agree; we need the tribal rockstar back, ASAP.

Gee we need to stage an intervention so that poor Tendulkar isn't deprived of being part of a World Cup winning side.

Why do you bother with these videos anyway? The captain is not the problem, it's his bowlers who can't hit top of off.

Leela said...

Mahek,

True.

Yes it's the first time in a while that I've seen such Desi video :) When in Germany/The Netherlands - it was WillowTV that I used to watch cricket. So no pre/post match nonsense.

Came to UK and then SkySports. It's lot of fun listening to the past Eng blokes laying into the Eng team. Of course I care two hoots about the Eng team, and in any event Eng are prone to over reaction in any sport.

This video though takes the cake. What is MSD supposed to do if his bowlers have turned c**p. He can't magically make them bowl the right lengths can he ? Btw why isn't the bowling coach getting any flak?

I agree that MSD's tinkering of the batting lineup is not something smart. But the recent losses can't be blamed on that alone.

If your bowlers can't deliver, you can't expect the batters to bail them out everytime.

TG,

Yeah. I hope someone (Kirsten?) sits him down and explains that this juggling won't work.
Actually if you think of it, the juggling only happens when a few people are missing due to injuries; otherwise the line-up is pretty much fixed.

I don't have a problem with a flexible batting order. I just don't think the best batsmen should be held back while the greenhorns are thrown to the dogs. What I'm trying to say is you don't save yourself and Yuvraj Singh while Ravindra Jadeja and Virat Kohli have to face the music.
